Most properties on Martha's Vineyard sit on sandy soils that naturally drain water and leach nutrients very quickly. Standard synthetic fertilizers wash through this soil layer almost immediately, providing little benefit to grass roots while threatening the Island's sensitive marine ponds and groundwater.
We address this with a soil-first approach. Our lawn programs utilize slow-release, organic-based fertilizers and natural compost top dressings that build soil structure, hold moisture, and feed the grass roots steadily. Yes. Our primary fertilization programs are organic-based, slow-release treatments. These products feed the soil microbiology and build root structure naturally, which is essential for sandy soils. This approach keeps your turf healthy while protecting the Island's sensitive water tables and bays.
Core aeration removes small plugs of soil from your lawn. This breaks up compacted soil, allowing oxygen, water, and nutrients to reach the root zone directly. It also creates a perfect seedbed for fall overseeding, ensuring high seed germination.
Weekly mowing plans are priced per visit, depending on lawn size and layout. Complete annual lawn care programs (mowing, fertilization, aeration, and weed control) are quoted per property and billed seasonally. Every plan is estimated after a site review.
Sod gives you a finished lawn right away and suits smaller areas, slopes that could wash out and deadlines like a Memorial Day opening. Hydroseeding costs less for large areas and grows a lawn suited to the site, but needs several weeks of watering to fill in.
